At SmartGov, we recognize that the 21st century has brought with it groundbreaking technology and cognitive insights that have the potential to revolutionize the way governments govern and perform. However, we also recognize that many governments are not keeping pace with these advancements, and when they do, they often treat technology as a standalone practice, missing core elements necessary for success. This is why we see many digitalization trials failing, especially in developing countries.
We believe that there is an emerging need for a dedicated think-and-do tank to accelerate governance advancements through cognitive insights and the implementation of public interest technology. As citizens become increasingly reliant on digital technologies, the need for a human-centered approach directly in engineered systems becomes more important. However, we rarely see social scientists work alongside technologists and policy experts, especially when developing government-related technology. This is why SmartGov defines itself as a think-and-do tank, as we believe that GovTech should go beyond traditional consulting firms and standalone tech firms.
Our mission is to bring together the best of both worlds - the intellectual rigor of research and the practical experience of implementation in the public sector. By combining the expertise of interdisciplinary researchers, software engineers, and policy experts, SmartGov is able to develop innovative solutions that are both evidence-based and grounded in the realities of governance.
We take a hands-on approach to governance challenges, working directly with governments and stakeholders to develop and implement solutions that are tailored to their specific needs and contexts. Our goal is to make a real difference in the lives of citizens by helping governments become more efficient, effective, and responsive to the needs of their constituents. At SmartGov, we are committed to driving positive change in the public sector by bridging the gap between technology, policy, and civic sciences to make real progress in addressing some of the most pressing issues facing our communities today.
Our work philosophy is to collaborate closely with thought leaders, prioritize social impact and result-driven approaches, and use highly innovative and collaborative methods. We consider ourselves as an R&D institute dedicated to governance advancements that emphasize smart, citizen-centric solutions that are effective and sustainable.
